So my 2020 Accord is on its second dead battery in two years and I'm getting a bit frustrated. The first one died about 14 months in and the dealership replaced it under warranty no questions asked. But now this one is showing the same signs, slow cranking, the infotainment system rebooting randomly, and the auto start/stop hasn't worked in weeks. I took it to a battery shop and they tested it and said it's holding just 11.8 volts and needs to be replaced. The thing is, I'm not sure whether I should go back to the dealer and pay their premium for an OEM battery or just get a decent aftermarket one from a reputable brand. I've been told by some people that Honda batteries are actually made by the same manufacturers as the aftermarket ones, so you're just paying for the branding. But others have said the OEM ones are specifically calibrated for the car's charging system and aftermarket ones might not last as long in the heat. I drive about 50 kilometers a day for work so I don't think it's a lack of charging. I've been asking around and a few colleagues mentioned that if I'm looking for a Honda car battery in Industrial Area 10, there are a couple of places there that specialize in Japanese cars and carry both OEM and high-quality aftermarket options. I figure I might take a drive down there this weekend and see what they have, but I wanted to check here first if anyone has experience with aftermarket batteries in their Accord and how they held up. I really don't want to be replacing this thing every 18 months.
