The team's only points came from the controversial Monaco Grand Prix, when they were investigated for a series of pit lane speeding tickets, which were later found to be due to a calibration problem with the detection system. Whether these tickets ultimately changed the race result remains debatable, but in any case, the outcome cannot mask Aston Martin's predicament. Until the F1 program finds its direction, shifting focus to the company's illustrious road car tradition may be a more prudent choice.

This is not Breitling's first foray into motorsport. The brand has a long-standing partnership with Bentley, and even in the 2003 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Breitling logo was prominently displayed on the Bentley Speed ​​8's livery. The dial layout is clean and simple. The two chronograph subdials are symmetrically positioned at 6 and 9 o'clock, without a date window, maintaining overall balance. Both stainless steel models feature an understated design, paired with either a silver or black sunburst dial and concentric black chronograph subdials, respectively. The platinum bezel adds a touch of brilliance without being ostentatious. Equally pleasing is the absence of vibrant decorative colors on the dial, helping to maintain the DB5 series' signature understated elegance. Bat hands and hour markers complete the overall design, while the subtle Super-LumiNova luminous coating ensures clear readability in low-light conditions.

The wood trim around the outer bezel initially disappointed me. It felt superfluous. The "Aston Martin DB5" lettering on the dial was enough to establish its connection to the Aston Martin DB5. Adding a wood trim seemed unnecessary and distracted from the otherwise excellent dial design. However, the gold version interprets this concept more successfully. The warm wood tones blend seamlessly with the fixed gold bezel and surrounding details. The applied gold hour markers, hands, and gold-framed subdials complement the black onyx dial—a first for Breitling. Limited to 250 pieces, this watch exudes luxury. In many ways, it embodies the DB5's current image—an expensive and highly collectible luxury item. Of the three, I would unhesitatingly choose the stainless steel version with the silver dial. I would also replace the original strap with a black perforated racing strap to better match the automotive theme. However, my biggest wish is for a version without the wooden bezel to be released in the future. It would be even better if last year's more compact 38mm size could be reintroduced.
