  U4GM Guide to POE 2 1.0 Duelist Parry and Stances (4 อ่าน)

1 ก.ย. 2569 16:22

Path of Exile 2's Duelist is shaping up to be a class for players who want to stay close to danger without feeling stuck in place. It is expected to arrive with the 1.0 full release on December 11, 2026, bringing swords, stance changes, parries, and a Strength-Dexterity starting point to the game. You will need to make early choices about weapons and defences, so keeping some POE 2 Currency aside for testing could save you a lot of frustration once the class is available. The Duelist does not seem built around one perfect setup. That is part of the appeal. You can play fast, defensive, heavy, or somewhere in between.

A Sword Class With More Than One Route

The arrival of swords gives the Duelist a clear identity, but the weapon choices should lead to very different experiences. Dual-wielding one-handed swords is the obvious pick for players who like quick attacks and constant pressure. It should feel lively, especially when you are moving between targets and trying to keep your damage flowing.

A sword and shield setup will suit players who would rather have room for mistakes. It may not hit as hard straight away, but the extra defensive options could matter during difficult maps and boss encounters. Two-handed swords sit at the other end of the scale. They are likely to favour slower attacks, stronger hits, and careful timing. None of these choices looks like a simple upgrade over the others. Your passive route, skill gems, and equipment will all need to match the weapon in your hands.

Parry and Stance Changes Should Shape the Fight

Ready Stance and parrying may be the mechanics that truly separate the Duelist from other melee classes. Instead of watching only your life total and defensive statistics, you will have to watch the enemy as well. A heavy swing is not just something to move away from. With the right timing, it could become a chance to stop the attack and answer with a counterstrike.

That sounds exciting, though it will not be effortless. Bosses rarely give you unlimited time to react, and crowded fights can make visual cues difficult to read. You will probably miss parries while learning an encounter. That is fine. Once you recognise an attack animation, the whole fight may start to feel different.

Blood and Sand Stances add another decision. Blood Stance should appeal when one target needs to fall quickly, while Sand Stance seems better suited to groups and moments when you need more breathing space. You will likely switch between them instead of choosing one and forgetting about it. That small habit could become a major part of playing the class well.

Buried Blades and Familiar Skills

Buried Blades appear to give the Duelist a way to prepare the battlefield before committing to a full attack. You might place a blade, draw an enemy into the right position, and then trigger the interaction as part of your main sequence. It adds a little planning to a class that might otherwise be reduced to running towards a target and holding down an attack button.

The returning skills should make the class easier to approach. Cyclone is a natural fit for anyone who wants to keep moving while dealing close-range damage. Reave offers a wider attack pattern and could help control space when several enemies are pressing in. Double Strike looks more direct, with a strong connection to single-target damage and Blood Stance.

Still, old names do not guarantee old behaviour. Path of Exile 2 has a different pace, different animations, and a more deliberate feel in many encounters. A skill that was comfortable in the earlier game might need a new rhythm here. That is why early testing will matter more than theory alone.

Equipment Planning Without Burning Through Resources

It is tempting to prepare every possible version of the Duelist before launch. Most players will regret doing that. Start with one clear idea instead. Choose dual-wielding, sword and shield, or a two-handed sword, then look for equipment that supports that direction without leaving you unable to change later.

Weapon quality will be especially important for attack-focused builds. Look for physical damage and attack speed when those stats fit your plan. A shield build will care more about armour, evasion, life, and block. Two-handed characters may prefer large physical rolls and bonuses that make each hit count.

The hybrid starting area should also give you options. Armour can help soften physical hits, while evasion may prevent some attacks from connecting in the first place. You do not have to force both layers immediately, but having access to each one could help the Duelist handle different parts of the campaign. Save enough resources for a respec or a weapon change. The strongest interaction may not be obvious during the first week.

Final Thoughts

The Duelist looks most interesting when its systems are used together. You attack with a sword, change stance as the situation shifts, read an incoming blow, and search for a counterattack. That is a more involved loop than simply stacking damage and repeating one skill. Dual-wielding should suit aggressive players, sword and shield offers a steadier route, and two-handed swords give the class a heavier feel. The smart approach will be to keep your build open while players learn how Parry, Blood Stance, Sand Stance, and Buried Blades fit together. If you are planning your first character, leave room in your budget for adjustments and consider whether POE 2 Jeweller's Orb will help you refine the skill setup as your gear develops.
