I noticed a few days ago that the exhaust fan in my main bathroom isn't spinning anymore, which is pretty annoying because that bathroom gets a ton of steam and moisture from daily showers. I've been leaving the window open to try and air things out, but it's been raining a lot lately so that's not really a great solution, and I can already see some peeling paint starting to happen around the ceiling near the shower area. I'm genuinely concerned about mold and mildew developing if I don't get this sorted out soon, because we've had issues with that in the past and it was a nightmare to deal with. I tried flipping the switch a bunch of times thinking maybe it was just stuck, but nothing happened, and I even tapped on the housing a little to see if that would knock something loose. I'm guessing it's probably an electrical issue, either a bad connection somewhere or maybe the motor itself just gave out after years of use. I don't really know much about how these fans are wired or whether it's something that can be fixed easily or if I need to replace the whole unit. I definitely don't feel comfortable poking around in the ceiling myself, especially when it involves electricity and I'm not sure what I'm looking at. I think what I need is someone who offers guaranteed electrical work in Palo Alto so I can be confident that the job will be done safely and correctly the first time, and that I won't have to worry about this again anytime soon. Has anyone else had their bathroom exhaust fan die on them? Was it a simple repair or did you end up having to replace the whole thing? I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences before I start calling around for quotes.
